Windows Azure
So what is Windows Azure, despite being poorly named. Windows Azure is Microsofts new cloud operating system and services platform. While I think this initiative will fail against Google and Amazon. So in short a very poor start to the PDC. For those of you that spent your money, sorry but its wasted. Announcements like this just show that M$ has no more innovation and steam and tomorrow will seal the deal when Im guessing the Windows 7 details will prove to not be much of anything as well.

The way I see it
When asked about what I think about the state of OS technology I believe Linux to be at the forefront of innovation. Windows has become the new OS/2, dying a slow death. OS/2 Warp actually had more of an adoption in 2008 than Windows Vista did. Mac OS is just bloated and proprietary. gNewSense and Linux in general is the new leader. Much of this success can be attributed to the massive amount of distributions available. Users can pick and choose and this helps with adoption. The massive proliferation of distros will cease. As the economy worsens and the less than technical groups get out of just changing names and releasing it as new and they are forced to get sub standard jobs like McDonalds or convenience stores many distros will cease to exist. This is good for Linux and consumers in general. the big winners are going to be gNewSense, Sellout Linux and Red Hat, Ubuntu may be around but distros like Zenwalk, Xandros and even Oracle will die. Non players like yellowdog and PCOS should just give it up now and go work for somebody their days are numbered.
The Linux landscape will change and its going to be a welcome change. When Windows 7 is released and Im willing to bet $100.00 it will be a massive failure, Microsoft is gone and gNewSense and the few remainders will see success like no other.

How the mighty have fallen
One of the things I hate are people who think they are so important and even how they claim to be the smartest person in the world. The subject of this post is one person in particular. Rory Blythe. Rory writes a blog at Neopoleon.com. I had my first run in with Rory about two years ago on his blog and when he was a host for the .NET show, yes I used to use Windows before I discovered the perfection known as gNewSense. Back then Rory was a huge SCO supporter and was almost gleeful that SCO had sued IBM. Well now that that episode has come to an end where is my old friend Rory? Rory had gone to work for Microsoft and even wound up on the Channel 9 team when something happened in his personal life and he had to quit. As a side note I do hope Rory has gotten better and is healthy and happy. Channel 9 has gone to the dumps since then as they really havent found a suitable replacement. The videos have gone bland and the site is a shell of its former glory when Robert Scoble ran the site and Rory replaced him. Rory may not be the Smartest Man in the World, but he is amusing. He does make me laugh.
During his glory days Rory Blythe was a huge .NET advocate, we fought over .NET and he brought up some good points, some bad and we went our seperate ways. So I got to thinking about Rory in the car in rush hour traffic got home and checked out his blog to see what had been happening. Well it seems that Rory has become somewhat of a Mac advocate and now uses Apple computers. Im glad he got away from Microsoft and moved on. In metaphor like Darth Vader did in Return of the Jedi, Rory hoisted Bill Gates up and tossed him into the pit. Rory has changed since his SCO days and is no longer the rabid M$ supporter and SCO supporter. I do wonder what he thinks of Objective C.
I wish Rory the best, I hope he finds a job and most importantly I feel like I have won. The one time biggest supporter of Microsoft no longer uses their products and thats one less slave of Redmond.

Why Windows 7 will suck
Windows 7 is set to premier at the end of the month at thje M$ PDC. While many out there in the IT world are touting the successes already the undeniable truth is that Windows 7 will suck and it will suck for consumers. Why? Because Microsoft has made no real advancements to the system, Its Windows Vista which means you will have high hardware taxing features and in proper Microsoft fashion you will probably have 3 or 4 new versions added and you will probably have to remortagage your home just to afford the upgrade.
Microsoft cannot keep up with the Linux development process. Take gNewSense for example, Deltah is already more advanced than Windows Vista and is being adopted by more people everyday. Windows is the unix of present day. Expensive, ugly, inconsistent and dying. As PDC unfolds I will be bringing news and opinion.
If you are truly in love with Microsoft and dont care about your freedoms and want to use a non-GNU/Linux distribution might I recommend OpenSellout Linux (OpenSuse) http://www.opensuse.org or P, Drop the C,/OS. PC/OS http://www.pc-os.org. These will offer you the experience that you most likely would want as a new brain dead user.

Microsoft Channel 9 and outrages
I'm very seriously considering suing Microsoft for violating my civil rights. I was banned because I said Tupac on the site which is not a racial slur. I was banned because Im a GNU/Linux user and they arent. If Channel 9 is Microsofts attempt at community they need some work. The common theme is "if you use GNU/Linux, you are not welcome"
I think no OSS software should be made available for Windows until Microsoft learns community.
